Crown Deformed - Leaves Brittle or Cracked

Leaves in the crown are deformed. Crown may appear tight as these younger, smaller leaves curl up and grow together. In addition, leaves are brittle or cracked.

This combination of symptoms may be caused by a couple of problems. You may either view the list of possible causes, or select from the list of additional symptoms below in order to narrow down your search.

• Leaves darken on the edge. Edges appear brown in color (necrosis).
• Leaves have dark speckles on the underside of them.
• Leaves pale on the edge. Edges appear yellow in color.
• Leaves have scarring on the upperside of them.
• Buds do not open.
• Flowers drop off.
• Flowers are blotchy or streaked.
• Flowers are deformed or twisted.
• Flowers are damaged. They may have holes in them.
• Roots turn black.
• Visible insects or other pests. These pests may only be visible with a magnifying glass. Look for them to be predominantly in the crown or the folds of quilted or scalloped leaves.
