Yellow Powder on Flowers

Flowers have a light yellow powder on them. This is pollen which has spilled from the anthers.

While this symptom is most often associated with the presence of Thrips, it may also be caused by the presence of Earwigs. To determine which of these pests is at work, select from the list of additional symptoms below.

• Light yellow powder (pollen) appears as fine dust on the flowers.
• Light yellow powder (pollen) appears in clumps on the flowers.
• Leaves darken on the edge. Edges appear brown in color.
• Leaves have white spots on them.
• Leaves have streaks on the underside of them. Streaks are gray or silver in color.
• Leaves have holes in them. They may appear to have been eaten.
• Flowers are smaller than normal.
• Flowers are blotchy or streaked.
• Flowers turn brown or have brown spots on them.
• Flowers are damaged. They may have holes in them.
