Leaves Drop - Crown Pales - Stems Wilt
Leaves drop, and the crown pales. Also, the stems are wilting or turning mushy. For the most part, this only occurs at the base of the stem where it is, in fact, rotting. While the outer leaves may appear relatively healthy, the base of the stems have become so mushy that they can no longer hold the weight of the foliage.
