Leaves Darken on the Edge

Leaves are dark on the edges. Edges appear brown in color.

Note: This symptom should be distinguished from leaves which darken only on the tips. When leaves are described as dark along the edge, it may be the case that only part of the edge is dark. However, when the necrosis is limited to the tips of the leaves, and appears nowhere else, this indicates a separate and distinct symptom.

Additional Symptoms

• Leaves darken only on the tip. The tips appear brown in color.
• Leaves pale. They appear yellow or grayish in color.
• Leaves pale between the veins.
• Leaves pale mostly in the crown. Other leaves may be affected, but the chlorosis appears predominantly in the young leaves of the crown.
• Leaves have yellow spots on them.
• Leaves have white spots on them.
• Leaves have dark speckles on the underside of them.
• Leaves are deformed or twisted.
• Leaves curl down on the edge.
• Leaves curl up on the edge.
• Leaves wilt. They may appear translucent brown with a soft, jelly-like consistency.
• Leaves are brittle or cracked.
• Leaves are dry and shriveled.
• Leaves are smaller than normal.
• Leaves have scarring on the upperside of them.
• Leaves have streaks on the underside of them. Streaks appear gray or silver in color.
• Leaves have webs on them.
• Leaves and stems have lesions where they rest on the rim of the pot.
• Not flowering.
• Flower buds do not open.
• Flowers drop off.
• Flowers are smaller than normal.
• Flowers turn brown or have brown spots on them.
• Flowers are deformed or twisted.
• Flowers are damaged. They may have holes in them.
• Flowers are blotchy or streaked.
• Flowers have webs on them.
• Flowers have a light yellow powder on them.
• Crown pales. Other leaves may be affected, but the chlorosis appears predominantly in the young leaves of the crown.
• Crown has excessive plant hairs growing from it.
• Crown has orange crystals clinging to the leaf hairs.
• Potting soil is dry to the touch.
• Visible insects or related pests. These pests may only be visible with a magnifying glass.
